Good Afternoon Rocky Point Families,
Thank you to all families for your patience and flexibility as we made bus route adjustments this past week for the safety of our students. An additional appreciation to families in Mrs. Rohlfing’s and Mrs. Cutshaw’s classrooms for taking the time to come meet them this past week as they recently joined our RPES family.
Middle of year assessments are well on their way as we have completed most of our mClass reading assessments during the past two weeks. Our only remaining mClass assessments are make-ups for students that have been absent. We are currently averaging approximately 93% attendance thus far this school year. Our goal is to increase our percentage to 95% for the school year and we can only meet this goal with your support. We have also begun a school-wide initiative for classrooms that students will learn about this week as they earn letters based on attendance.
This upcoming week, we have additional middle of year assessments taking place. Please note the following assessments and dates:
- Beginning tomorrow, Monday, January 22nd, our Kindergarten multilingual students will begin their Access language testing through the entire week.
- On Tuesday, January 23rd, students in grades 3-5 will take their middle of year state Math Check-In assessment.
- On Thursday, January 25th, students in grades 3-5 will take their middle of year state Reading Check-In assessment.
On each of these mornings, please expect an early phone call if your student is absent as we will aim to begin testing no later than 7:30 am and will check in with all families if we are not aware of an illness resulting in an absence that day.
This Friday, January 26th, we will be welcoming families of all grade levels from 7:30 - 9:00 am to engage with our students as all grade levels will be focusing specifically on math instruction and allowing families first-hand experiences with math standards for this second semester.
Looking ahead to next week, students in grade 5 will take their middle of year state Science Check-In assessment on Wednesday, January 31st
Our quote for the week: “If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself” by Henry Ford. We hope everyone has a great week and hope to see all families Friday morning for our family math learning opportunities!
