Good Afternoon Rocky Point Families,
Thank you for your excellent attendance as we have navigated through beginning of year assessments. Additionally, we highly appreciate your communication with us when your child has not been feeling well, which resulted in an absence from school. Please remember that at this point, all students should be entering the building unassisted by parents. If you have a conference set up with your child’s teacher, you must sign in to the office upon arriving to campus and prior to going down our hallways for the safety of all of our students.
This week, fall pictures will take place on Tuesday, September 19th. No money must be paid up front for these pictures to be taken.
This Wednesday, September 20th, first quarter interim reports will be coming home with students as well as mClass Home Connect letters, which provide information to you regarding how your student performed on their beginning of year mClass reading assessments. 3rd grade students will also be coming home with their individual student report indicating their performance on their Beginning of Grade 3 state reading assessment. Also this Wednesday, we will have our September school improvement team meeting at 2:45pm for any parents that would like to attend.
If your child is interested in submitting an artistic entry for the cover of this year’s yearbook, please have them do so prior to the deadline for submissions on Friday, October 13th. Yearbook Cover Art Contest 2023-24
Our Parent Teacher Organization is continuing to sell the Attractions Coupon Book as a fundraiser to replenish PTO funds to provide ongoing support for our students and teachers. Their goal is for each family to buy or sell 1 just book! Remember, if you have any questions, please contact Meredith Nance via email at Rockypointpto@gmail.com. If you cannot participate in this fundraiser, please return the book in its original condition immediately. Again, the PTO is offering individual prizes for students as well as a pizza party for the top selling class in the school!
Health assessments and immunizations for students are due no later than September 26th. If students do not have these items completed, they will not be able to return to school beginning on September 27th until our school nurse, Nurse Parker, has received this information. Looking ahead, please mark the following two dates on your calendar:
Next week, our Beginning of Year Curriculum Event and Annual Title 1 Parent Meeting for this upcoming year will take place on Tuesday, September 26th. At this event, you will learn more about your child’s curriculum and your rights and responsibilities as stakeholders in a Title 1 School. Families will meet in the gym at 4:00pm to hear Title 1 information followed by grade level rotations beginning at 4:30pm. There will be opportunities for parents to visit multiple children’s classrooms on a rotating basis during this event. Free snacks and finger foods will also be served at this event. We hope that you all will plan to join us for this event.
If you have a child that is interested in signing up for scouts, please note that the cub scout make-up sign-up night will now take place Thursday, October 12th from 5:30-6:00pm in the Rocky Point Elementary School cafeteria. If you are unable to attend the sign-up night, you may call Levi Mullis at 910-395-1100, ext. 102 or email him at levi.mullis@scouting.org.
