Good Afternoon Rocky Point Families,
Thank you for the amazing turn out at Open House on Thursday! We truly loved seeing each and every family and are ecstatic over the many classrooms that were able to have 100% attendance! In speaking with our new PTO President, Ms. Nance, I am also excited about the number of parents signing up for our PTO this year!
We want your feedback in order to plan events and activities for this upcoming school year, therefore I am providing the 23-24 RPE Fall Parent Survey link for you to have the ability to complete it if you were not able to do so at Open House. If you were unable to attend Open House, I hope that you were able to speak to your child’s teacher when they reached out to you on Friday.
The first day of school for students is tomorrow, Monday, August 28th. Please remember that our car rider line begins drop off at 7:00am with our tardy bell ringing at 7:20am. Our dismissal time is 2:20pm. Again for car riders this year, if you have reached the sidewalk by our Kindergarten and First Grade wing, please encourage your child to exit the vehicle and proceed into the school in order for the car line to move efficiently. Also, please make sure to have a conversation with your child in regards to how they are getting home from school on their first day of school tomorrow.
If you would like to walk your child into school, we are allowing all parents of students in all grades to do so tomorrow on their first day. Parents bringing Kindergarten students for the first time may park and walk them in on their respective staggered days Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. On Thursday, August 31st, we will resume to car drop offs and bus riders only. If you feel as though you must walk your child into school, you must park in the first parking lot in a parking space that is the first left when you arrive on campus for the safety of all of our students and in order to keep our car line for families choosing to drop and go moving efficiently.
Please be patient this week with transportation as we work out any potential issues that could arise at the start of the new school year. If you need to request a relocation of a students’ bus stop, please follow this procedure:

A reminder for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year, Pender County Schools is introducing a program called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), which specifically includes all Rocky Point Elementary students. Both breakfast and lunch will be provided at no cost to all students. No sign-up or documentation is required to participate. For those who are interested in learning more about the Community Eligibility Provision, you can find additional details at the following link: [CEP Information](https://www.fns.usda.gov/cn/community-eligibility-provision).
We're excited about this new initiative and the positive impact it will have on our students, families, and school community. Our quote to kick off the year: “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn” by Benjamin Franklin. We are greatly looking forward to kicking off the 2023-2024 school year tomorrow with our students!
