Good afternoon Rocky Point Families,
A sincere appreciation to all of our families for joining us on Thursday and Friday as we celebrated the many accomplishments of our students during the 22-23 school year. Please remember that while we often highlight academic proficiency, we also recognize and appreciate the academic growth of our students as well as their impeccable character and kindness that they display throughout the school year.
As shared at grade level ceremonies, our students have worked hard to earn a ticket to the Wilmington Sharks game on Wednesday, June 7th in our partnership with the Read Around the Bases program. One adult may get into the game with each student for free. Please wear Rocky Point blue! Also, if you have not purchased a yearbook, there are still some available in our office and can be purchased with a cash payment of $25.
As we completed our initial end of grade assessments, a big thank you to all families of students in grades 3-5 for the excellent attendance of our students. Report cards were sent home with all students on Friday. Students in grades 3-5 also received the individual student reports for their end-of-grade assessments and all students received their reading mClass results. If your student was absent, please stop by the office on Tuesday to get these items. Please note if your child has been invited to remediation, we will operate on normal school hours, beginning at 7:20 and dismissing at 2:20. We greatly appreciate your support in having your student attend remediation and arrive at time to school for these remediation opportunities. If your child is attending summer learning, please remember summer learning begins June 15th and school hours will be 7:45am - 3:00pm.
As summer has officially arrived, I am once more sharing a digital resource from Literacy at Home, which provides literacy activities at each grade level, pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Families and communities may access this resource for activities that specifically target the literacy skills of phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and oral language. Again, we encourage your use of this resource to continue your support of literacy development during the summer months.
Our final quote for the 22-23 school year: “It’s easy to make a buck. It’s a lot tougher to make a difference.” Thank you for allowing us to love your students and assist you in growing their character and growing them academically this school year. I am very proud to be a part of this Rocky Point family! Have a great summer and we look forward to seeing invited students for remediation and summer learning opportunities this summer!
