Eighth Grade Visits Fort Fisher Aquarium
The 8th grade students went to the Fort Fisher Aquarium on Monday, December 12. The students were able to enjoy a Shark Presentation given by an aquarium staff member. We learned there are more than 500 species of sharks and over half of those species are less than 6 feet long! We even learned about a shark that is only 6 inches long!
After our presentation we were able to explore the aquarium and find answers to a scavenger hunt. The scavenger hunt helped us to read about different species and water systems in North Carolina and reinforced our knowledge.
When asked what the favorite part of the aquarium was, student answers varied: the big tank, the scuba diver, the poison darts, the sea horses, the otters, snakes, exotic aquatics, alligators, the Cape Fear River, megladon jaw, coldrock saltwater, jelly fish, the gift shop, the shoals exhibit because of the sea turtles, lion fish, outside, and the game with helping the whales. It was obvious there was something for everyone at the aquarium!
We made it back to school in time for the soccer team to head to their play off game! We had a great day!
