Good Evening Penderlea Families. This is Ms. Fuller with your weekly message.
I would like to again say a final thank you to you, the Penderlea community and families, for your support of Penderlea. I am excited to announce that Mrs. Nikki Braune, will be your interim Principal, at Penderlea. I would also like to welcome Penderlea Ms. Kimberly McNeill, Penderlea’s Assistant Principal. They will be introducing themselves this week. Please give them both Penderlea welcome.
Please remember that lunch fees are occurring for students who do not have money in their account. Please remember that fees will follow students all the way to 12th grade if they are not paid. If you need to complete a lunch application please complete this online or contact the school for a paper copy.
Picture money was due on Friday to your student’s homeroom teacher. Please remember that if you are not purchasing pictures, they must be returned to the school. Please return or purchase the pictures on Monday.
October is Month of Awareness. This week we are bringing awareness Bullying Prevention Awareness includes educating individuals about the types of bullying, how to individually address bullying through skills and how to report potential concerns to others. Please wear Orange on Friday to support bullying prevention week.
Our students in grades 3-8 will take their Math NC Check-ins on Tuesday and their ELA NC Check-ins on Thursday. Please make sure your students eat a good breakfast and get a good night sleep.
If your student in grades 3-5 is interested in participating in Science Olympiad, please meet in Mrs. Linke’s room (206) on Tuesday, October 18th from 3:00-4:00 pm. Parents, you are welcome to attend this meeting with your child. Letters went home with students last week. Please contact Mrs. Elaine Linke if you have any questions.
If your student in grades 6-8 is interest in participating in Science Olympiad, please meet in Ms. Anderson’s room (228) on Tuesday, October 18th from 3:00-4:00 pm. Parents, you are welcome to attend this meeting with your child. Letters went home with students last week. Please contact Ms. Nichole Anderson if you have any questions.

Our PBIS team has planned another fall favorite activity for the month of October. If you are able to donate “mini pumpkins” to your students' homeroom teacher, please do so by October 21st. Our student’s activity this month will be painting the mini pumpkins on October 28th.
Penderlea is partnering with Pender County Recreation Department to host a Community Movie Night on Monday, October 24th. The movie will be Monsters, Inc. Penderlea PTO will be selling pizza, chips, and a drink. Cash only. The movie will be shown on the football field. Make sure to bring a blanket/chair. We hope that everyone can attend.
We are planning now for Penderlea’s Yearbook. This year we will be choosing a students’ design for the yearbook cover. Student’s who would like to participate in the contest, designs are due to Ms. Hounshel on October 31st. We will not be accepting any designs after this date. Athletics:
Congratulations to our softball team. They ended the regular season as the regular season CHAMPS. They will play tomorrow at Heide Trask High School at 4:00 pm. They will play Surf City. Good Luck Girls!
There is a home football game on Wednesday at 4:00 pm
Boys and Girls soccer try-outs will be October 20th-21st from 3:15-4:30pm. Athletes in grades 6th, 7th, and 8th grade who are interested must attend both days of try-outs. In order to be eligible for try-outs, students must have an updated physical on file and be academically eligible. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Finn or Mrs. Kolb.
