Here are some important information and updates for the week of April 21st through April 25th and beyond.

Please re-enforce the use of this word at home. 

Moving On Up Night

Join us for our annual "Moving On Up" night on Thursday, May 8th! This important event offers families the opportunity to visit their child's next grade level and meet the teachers. We're offering two sessions: Session 1 from 4:00 PM - 4:45 PM and Session 2 from 4:45 PM - 5:30 PM. 

During your visit, you'll receive information about your child's future teachers, grade-level curriculum and content, and ways to support your child's learning at home. Plus, enjoy a popcorn snack! 

Camp Invention

PCS is excited to bring Camp Invention back again this summer! This is a hands-on STEM camp where students will build creative inventions, work together on fun projects, and make new friends.

July 7–11, 2025 from 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM

A limited number of scholarships for the 2025 camp are available . If you are interested in your child attending at no cost, please complete the scholarship application by Friday, April 25, 2025.

Elementary School All-County Chorus Concert

We are proud to share that several of our Penderlea students will be representing our school in the 2025 Elementary All-County Chorus!

We would love for you to join us in celebrating their hard work and talent at the concert:

Location: Heide Trask High School

Come out and support our young musicians as they perform with students from across the county.

Attendance Announcements

Congratulations to the following classes:

 Ms. Benson’s class for hitting the first tier of the attendance incentives. This means that each class had 95 percent of students attend 10 or more days since the start of the new semester!  

 Mrs. Gurganus, Ms. Anderson, Ms. Aluise, Mrs. Graham, and Mrs. Deal’s class for hitting the second tier of attendance incentives! This means that these classes have had 95 percent of students attend 20 or more days since the start of the new semester! 

Ms. Sapp and Ms. Hedrick’s classes for hitting the third tier of attendance incentives! This means that these classes have had 95 percent of students attend 30 or more days since the start of the new semester! 

Athletic

Athletics this week are as follows:

  • Tuesday April 22nd

    • Home volleyball and baseball game vs West Pender MS

      • Both teams will take pictures prior to the game(see attached flier for more details)

  • Wednesday April 23rd

    • Away volleyball and  baseball game at Cape Fear Middle School

Parent Support Opportunity – Free Family Event
Pender County Schools is partnering with the Poe Center to offer helpful and engaging parent support programs. The next event, "Drugs Uncovered: What Parents & Adults Need to Know," is designed as an interactive program for parents, caregivers, and adults who work with upper elementary, middle school, and high school students.

The session is on May 6th and is free, begins at 6:00 PM, and includes a light dinner.

Field Day Volunteers Needed 

We’re excited to host our Field Day on May 30th from 8AM to 2:45 PM at the Penderlea Athletic Fields, and we need your help to make it a fun and smooth event for our students!

We’re looking for volunteers to assist with a variety of tasks!

Volunteers can be guardians, older siblings, parents, grandparents, or high schoolers in the need of volunteer hours. Whether you can help for a couple hours or stay the whole time, we truly appreciate your support. Please note that all non-PCS students or staff, must have a district background check before volunteering.

Last call for yearbook pre-orders. All orders must be turned in by April 25th.

Testing season is coming up, and the Penderlea Junior Beta Club is offering a sweet way to show your support. You can send your student a 3-pack of Otis Spunkmeyer cookies to be delivered on their testing day!
