In 7th grade Social Studies, we are learning about the Industrial Revolution and the assembly line process. To understand these concepts, we participated in an activity where we created "Happy Grams" in a factory-like setting. Each student had a specific role in the production process, mirroring how factories operated during the Industrial Revolution.
In contrast, another group of students engaged in a handmade production process to create their Happy Grams, demonstrating the differences between factory-made products and those crafted by hand before the rise of industrial manufacturing. This hands-on experience helped us better understand how the assembly line revolutionized production and changed the way goods were made.
On Thursday, January 9th, the 7th and 8th grade students in Mrs. Kessler's ELA class at Penderlea worked diligently to prepare and participate in a Socratic Seminar based on their Wit and Wisdom modules. Ahead of time, they were given questions to guide their discussions, and they collaborated in groups to explore the themes and elements highlighted in each text.
7th graders focused on the novel Code Talkers, while 8th graders delved into All Quiet on the Western Front. The students engaged in thoughtful dialogue, demonstrating critical thinking and a deep understanding of the texts. Here are a few moments from their hard work in class!
