Here are some important information and updates for the week of December 9th through December 12th and beyond.
Word of the Week
This week’s Word of the Week will be Analyze. Analyze means examine carefully and in detail.
We encourage you to please re-enforce the use of this word at home.
Winter Concert
Mr. Farrior and the music and band classes will be hosting their Winter Concert on Tuesday December 10th at 6PM in the Penderlea Gym.
All elementary grade students are invited to participate as they have been preparing their songs in music class each week. Students do not need to arrive early for this event.
Winter Break Reminder
Remember that Thursday December 12th is a half day for students and there will be no school on Friday December 13th, as we start our Winter Break this day.
9 Days of December Fun
For the 9 days we are in school for December, we will be having some fun! Please see attached image for the theme days.
Vision Screenings
Vision screenings will be done on tomorrow, Monday Dec 9th for all 1st, 3rd, and 5th graders. Please contact Nurse Bain if you have any questions or if you would like to opt-out your child for vision screening at school.
Beta Club
Middle School Winter Dance: Tickets go on sale this week for the Middle School Winter Dance hosted by our Junior Beta Club! The dance will be on December 12th from 6:00-8:00pm. Tickets are $8, and can be purchased online via the QR code on the flyer or from Mrs. Finn and Mrs. Kolb. The ticket price does include pizza and a drink. The last day to purchase tickets will be Tuesday December 10th and NO tickets will be sold at the door. We hope to see all of our middle schoolers there for a fun Winter night!
Remember that the December BETA meeting is this Tuesday, and the pick-up time is 4:00pm. If your student signed up to bring something for the holiday party, it can be dropped off to Mrs. Finn or Mrs. Kolb.
Athletics
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR BOYS AND GIRLS SOCCER TEAMS WHO BOTH MADE THE PCS PLAYOFFS!
All semifinals will be played on Monday, Dec. 9th, starting at 4, followed by 5, 6, and 7 starts at Pender High. Please note that games could start as early as 30 minutes before their announced start time based on the previous games end time. This is to get everyone home as early as possible.

All players will remain at school to have an end of season celebration before going over to Pender High.
PBIS Second Quarter Celebration Donations
The Penderlea PBIS committee is collecting donations for our 2nd quarter PBIS celebration. Please see attached flier for what we need in order to celebrate our awesome students!
Support the United Way Family Campaign
Pender County Schools is proud to support the United Way of the Cape Fear Area’s Family Campaign, helping fund over 40 nonprofit organizations in Columbus, Brunswick, New Hanover, and Pender counties. Last year, these programs impacted more than 52,000 lives through grants for education, financial stability, and health.

Want to paint the Penderlea Spirit Rock with a special message? Contact the front office at pls_info@pender.k12.nc.us to schedule your rock painting session.
Cost: $5. All proceeds support the school.
