Dear Penderlea Families,
Here are some important updates and reminders for the coming weeks:
Save the Date: Family Support and Curriculum Night Mark your calendars! Our annual Family Support and Curriculum Night will be held on August 15th from 5 PM - 6:30 PM. This night is dedicated to helping families understand what students are learning in school and providing insight on how you can support your student at home.
Penderlea PTO Meeting The Penderlea PTO meeting will be held on Monday, July 29th at 7:50 AM in the STEM room upstairs. Nominations will be taken for new board members. We encourage all interested parents to attend.
Back-to-School Bingo Night Our Beta Club will be hosting its very first Back-to-School Bingo Night on August 2nd! This event is open to anyone in the community who would like to attend. Doors will open at 5:30 PM, with games beginning at 6:00 PM. There will be games for students and adults, with fun, food, and prizes in store! We hope to see you all there!
BETA Club Recognition We are proud to announce that our BETA Club has been recognized as a “School of Merit.” Congratulations to all our BETA Club members for their hard work and dedication!
Athletics Meeting Any Parents/Guardians of athletes who plan to try out for fall cheer, softball, or football MUST attend a meeting on Tuesday, August 6th at 5:30 PM in the Penderlea School media center. You will need a copy (or photo) of the athlete's up-to-date sports physical and your athlete with you for this meeting. During the meeting, we will complete all needed paperwork together, create your athlete's BigTeams account, and provide essential information for the upcoming season. We will hold meetings at a later date for soccer, basketball, winter cheer, baseball, and volleyball.
Cheer Tryouts Cheer Tryouts will occur the week of August 19th. Anyone interested in trying out must have their physical completed by then if they do not have a current one on file. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Gurganus.
Middle School Football 7th or 8th-grade students interested in playing middle school football should sign up on the middle school bulletin board upstairs. Practice begins Monday, August 19th after school. Athletes must have a current physical on file to stay for practice and will need football cleats. Please see Mrs. Lanier for any questions.
mClass and Diagnostic Testing Continuing this week, students in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade will be taking the mClass assessments. These tests measure reading ability and are crucial for tailoring instruction to help every student succeed.
Mobile Dental Clinic The Mobile Dental Clinic will be on campus from July 15th to August 22nd. This is a great opportunity for your child to get their yearly exam done. If you did not receive a consent form and would like one sent home with your child, please let Nurse Bain know.
