PECHS scholarship winners at the Topsail historical society scholarship luncheon

Pender Early College High School (PECHS) students Allie Miller and Sinead Morrow both won $4,000.00 Scholarships from the Topsail Historical Society yesterday (Thursday April 10). To qualify for this scholarship, students needed an unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applicants needed to showcase an historical event from Onslow or Pender County and present their research in one of four formats: a written essay (750 words or more), an original piece of art, an original song, or original poetry. Allie Miller did an embroidery of the TALOS anti-aircraft missile in front of the Missiles and More Museum on Topsail Island. Sinead Morrow did a painting of the railroad car in front of the Burgaw Train Depot. Allie Miller will be attending Brighton College in England where she was one of eight accepted into their textiles program. Sinead Morrow is attending North Carolina State University where she will be studying Pre-Veterinary. Topsail High School students Nathan Deitz and Allana Chase were also winners at the Historical Society of Topsail Island scholarship luncheon.
