Good Evening MCES Families,
As shared earlier today through district-wide communication, Pender County Schools has made the following decisions:
All after school activities, including PACES, are canceled for Wednesday, August 30th. Please make sure your child’s teacher knows how your child will go home from school tomorrow.
All school buildings will be closed on Thursday, August 31 and students and staff will move to remote learning for Thursday, August 31.
For Kindergarten students whose staggered days were on Monday or Tuesday, your child’s teacher will be contacting you with home-friendly learning activities to complete for Thursday.
For 1st and 2nd grade students, we will be sending home paper packets for students to complete.
For 3rd through 5th grade students, we will send chromebooks and chromebook chargers home. Families who have limited or no access to internet services, please coordinate with your child’s teacher to make the necessary arrangements. Students will have a schedule/list of assignments to complete.
Attendance for remote learning days is important and will be taken to track students’ participation and engagement while away from the classroom. We encourage all students to complete all paper assignments and return them to school on the next in-person learning day. Please also ensure to submit any online assignments as outlined by the teachers in 3rd through 5th grade.
At the current time, we plan to resume to in-person instruction as usual on Friday, September 1. That decision is subject to change as this weather pattern has the potential to lead to localized flooding and other associated challenges.
