Malpass Corner Elementary

Good Evening MCES Families,

This is Avery Ellington, your principal, with your weekly Eagle News. We are excited for your partnership for an excellent school year!

Morning car drop off for K-5 students is in the front circle and begins at 7:20 and ends at 7:40.    The tardy bell rings at 7:45am. PK families, your morning drop off begins at 7:30 until 7:45 in the front circle as well.  There are cones designated for PK drop at the front of the line.  Please do not pass cars in the car rider circle to get to the front. We will have staff members throughout the building to help students get to their classes. Dismissal for K-5 students begins at 2:45.  Car riders will be in the front circle but we ask that you come in the second entrance, form 2 lines, and stop at the end of the fence around the playground.  We do not want to block the parking spaces that are out front.  A staff member will signal to pull forward beginning at 2:45.

Bus riders need to be at the bus stop 10-15 minutes early, remind them to wait for the driver’s hand signal if crossing the road, follow all bus rules and our K-2 students must be accompanied by an adult or older sibling for dropoff and pickup. If someone is not at the bus stop, students may be brought back to school to be picked up. Thank you for being patient as bus drivers learn the routes and adjust due to changes in students scheduled to ride the bus. If students miss the bus, do not try to catch up with the bus at the next stop, please bring the child(ren) to school.

Breakfast and lunch are free this year for all children.

If you haven’t already, it  is very important that you send a note with your child informing the teacher of how they are to get home.  Please also make sure we have updated phone numbers for you and your emergency contacts.

Kindergarten families are reminded to upload their child’s recent NC Health Assessment forms or immunizations in Scribbles or send them with the student. Unfortunately, if these are not turned in by Sept. 23, by law we will exclude the student from school until they are complete and received. Please call Kalen Harrell, our school nurse, with any questions.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and patience as bus drivers, staff, students and parents take time to learn bus routes and familiarize themselves with our routines for this school year. We will continuously work to improve our processes to keep everyone safe.
