Burgaw, NC – In a heartwarming show of community involvement, more than 80 parents and guardians recently participated in C.F. Pope Elementary's "A Day in the Classroom" event, a unique opportunity for them to observe and engage in their child's learning experience. The event, designed to foster a stronger connection between home and school, allowed families to take part in classroom activities, focusing on Eureka Math and Wit and Wisdom, two cornerstone programs used at the school.
Throughout the day, parents were given the chance to sit alongside their children as they navigated through engaging math problems and literacy lessons. The event was a hands-on experience that offered a deeper understanding of the methods and strategies teachers use to promote student growth in these areas.
"Our goal was to create an interactive environment where parents could see firsthand the kind of learning their children experience every day," said Ms. Moore, Principal of C.F. Pope Elementary. "It’s important for parents to feel connected to their child’s educational journey, and events like these help bridge the gap between the classroom and home."
Eureka Math, known for its rigorous and innovative approach, and Wit and Wisdom, which emphasizes deep reading and critical thinking, are both integral parts of the school’s curriculum. Parents had the chance to participate in math problem-solving activities and engage in discussions around the texts their children were reading.
The positive feedback from participants highlighted the value of such events. Many parents expressed how enlightening it was to experience the learning process and gain a greater appreciation for the challenges and triumphs their children face daily.
The success of this event reflects the school’s commitment to building strong partnerships with families and creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment. Plans for future events are already in the works, and the school looks forward to continuing to engage with parents and guardians in meaningful ways.
The "A Day in the Classroom" event was a true testament to the power of community and the shared responsibility in a child’s educational success. Thank you to all the parents and guardians who made this event a success.
