Our upcoming Title 1 night on January 12th from 5:30 to 7:00 pm is STEAM themed, meaning families will be completing activities related to science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Cape Fear Community College will also have a station to advertise the new CAP program rolling out next year in our high schools, which is similar to Pender Early College. Also, student report cards can be picked up from your child’s homeroom teacher.
The second round of math and reading I-Ready assessments will start January 9th. These assessments are very important to measure student growth from our first assessment in September. Our staff and students have been working very hard and we are looking forward to the growth our students will show. We will have a pbis reward day for students that show growth from their first assessment to this assessment.
Cheerleading interest meetings will take place during grade level recess time on Monday. Tryouts for cheerleading will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Our boys and girls basketball team tryouts will take place this Monday and Tuesday. All participants must have a current physical on file. Girls should be picked up in front of the school at 4:15 each day and boys by 5:30.
On January 11th, we will be meeting with each grade level to reinforce our core values at CFMS.
