Weekly Principal Message

Good evening,

Our school picture day is October 10th.  This link  https://strawbridge.fotomerchanthv.com/clients/cape-fear-middle-school/fall-pictures-10-10-2022-6/optIn will allow parents to sign up to receive updates via email regarding their child's school portraits. These updates include promotions, additional deals and the ability to order more pictures at a later time. When entering student information, parents should be sure to enter the student's name as it is on file at the school.  Sports pictures will also be October 10th for those students on the softball, football and cheer teams.  We will send more information this week about packages for both student pictures and sports pictures.

In combination with Cape Fear Elementary, Rocky Point Elementary and Heide Trask High School,  we will be having a Hispanic Heritage Celebration at Heide Trask HS on October 22nd from 4-8pm.  This will be our culminating event to close out the celebration of Hispanic Heritage month.  There will be food, games, music and performances throughout the night.  If you are interested in selling food at the event, please complete this link .  A table will be provided for you and you may set your own prices. All sellers must share at least 20% of their profits with the fundraising committee; more than 20% is welcome! Funds raised from this event will benefit all four participating schools.  Tacos will be sold at a group of food trucks, so please do not sign up to bring tacos.  Please come out and enjoy the night.

We have implemented a thirty minute period at the beginning of the day called Grizzly Time.  This period runs from 7:25-7:55.  On a weekly basis, students will have two days of an enrichment period, two days of academic support and a day of social-emotional learning.  For this to make a difference for our students,, we need all of our students here in their classrooms by 7:25.  We want to partner with you in making Grizzly Time a success.

Due to federal guidelines, we are required to have parents/guardians that are federally connected to complete a survey. This survey will document the students that are federally connected by having a parent that is on active duty or a civilian employee on federal property. We have moved this process online via Scribbles. Please login to your Scribbles account and complete the Military Information Update form for each of your PCS students. This will enable us to capture accurate data to submit the Impact Aid Grant. We are asking that this be submitted no later than Friday, October 7, 2022. If you are unsure how to submit the form, please contact us for assistance.

Our football plays at Heide Trask on Wednesday, October 5th versus Penderlea MS at 4:30.  Our softball team plays at Penderlea MS on Thursday, October 6th at 4:00.

If your child is arriving after 8am, we need a parent/guardian to come in to sign your child in.

Our Communities In Schools after school program will not start on Monday, October 3rd.

The PATH center has asked for help in providing a survey to gauge the interest of its services.  This is a survey for parents of students in the Pender County School System to determine interest in using immunization services offered by Pender Alliance for Total Health (PATH) once they become available. This survey is for information purposes only, and does not serve as consent.

PATH Survey

Here Comes the Bus allows you to view the real-time location of your child’s school bus on your smartphone, tablet or computer. With it, you will have the information you need to send your children to the bus stop at just the right time, helping to protect them from inclement weather and other roadside dangers. What’s more, you’ll have peace of mind knowing your children haven’t missed the bus. The links for more information are below.
