Good Evening,
We have implemented a thirty minute period at the beginning of the day called Grizzly Time. This period runs from 7:25-7:55. On a weekly basis, students will have two days of an enrichment period, two days of academic support and a day of social-emotional learning. For this to make a difference for our students,, we need all of our students here in their classrooms by 7:25. We want to partner with you in making Grizzly Time an effective period.
Softball plays at home on Monday versus Topsail MS and again at home on Thursday versus Burgaw MS. Both games start at 4pm. Our football team plays at Topsail MS on Wednesday starting at 4:30.
Parents, we would like to invite you to take our Title 1 Family Survey. The survey has been provided in this email and will also go out through class dojo communication. The results of this survey will help us better serve you and our community.
Please join us September 29th from 5:30-7:00 for our beginning of the year kickoff event. We will have a special demonstration by our cheerleaders and our softball and football teams will be introduced. Our teachers will have information and resources about the content they are teaching this year. As a bonus, the homeroom with the most attendance will receive a reward.
As a friendly reminder, please make sure your student is up to date with their vaccines required for school. 7th grade students must have their first meningitis vaccine and a Tdap booster completed by September 27th, in order to return to school on September 28th. Reminders of this requirement were sent out at the end of last school year and written notices were sent these past two weeks as well. If you received a notice, please provide proof of vaccines to the school by September 27th. The Pender County Health Department in Burgaw and Hampstead can assist in getting these vaccines if needed.
The PATH center has asked for help in providing a survey to gauge the interest of its services. This is a survey for parents of students in the Pender County School System to determine interest in using immunization services offered by Pender Alliance for Total Health (PATH) once they become available. This survey is for information purposes only, and does not serve as consent.
The Pender Mobile Dental Clinic is now at CFMS. The clinic provides routine and basic dental treatment to all interested students, parents and staff. If you would like to take advantage of the dental services they provide, parents and staff can call the mobile number for an appointment and students can ask his/her teacher for a form. A parent must complete the form and have your child return it to the school nurse. Please be aware they make every effort to treat students during elective classes so they are not missing out on core class instruction. If you have questions, please call 910-470-3250 or 910-279-3204. The Mobile Clinic will be here until the beginning of October so please get your forms in as soon as possible.
Here Comes the Bus allows you to view the real-time location of your child’s school bus on your smartphone, tablet or computer. With it, you will have the information you need to send your children to the bus stop at just the right time, helping to protect them from inclement weather and other roadside dangers. What’s more, you’ll have peace of mind knowing your children haven’t missed the bus. The links for more information are below.
