9/11 Weekly Update

New CFMS website

CFMS student/parent handbook 2022-2023

We are hosting our first PTO meeting of the year on Monday, September 19th at 5:30 pm in the media center.  Please feel free to come out and participate.

Parents, we are transitioning to using class dojo for parent and student communication.  If you have not done so, please join your child’s class dojo group.  If you need help with this process, please contact your child’s teacher.

This is a friendly reminder that we need a parent to sign his/her student in when arriving after 8 am.  Also, please try to limit checkouts after 2pm.  We know there are emergencies that come up and this cannot be avoided from time to time.  Your help with this is greatly appreciated.

We have made some changes to the athletic schedule for this week.  Softball plays Tuesday at Burgaw MS at 4:00 and the football team plays at Penderlea MS at 4:30 on Wednesday.

Middle School Night is next Friday vs White Oak HS at Heide Trask HS.  All cheerleaders, softball, & football players along with their coaches will get in the game free.  Come on out and support our Titans as they are having a great season.

Because of COVID-19 rules, many families have not completed free and reduced-price school meals applications. The free and reduced lunch information can be found here: https://family.titank12.com/.   You can find the free and reduced lunch information on our website by clicking on the menu icon and look under the families/community tab.   Free and reduced lunch information can also be found in the following two links:   Free and Reduced Lunch Letter  Free and Reduced Lunch Letter- Spanish.

Next week, our students will be finishing their math and reading I-ready assessments.  These assessments will give us a starting point of our students' current reading and math levels.  This data will be helpful in differentiating our instruction and providing for the needs of all of our students.

Parents, we would like to invite you to take our Title 1 Family Survey.  The survey has been provided in this email and will also go out through class dojo communication.  The results of this survey will help us better serve you and our community.

Please join us September 29th from 5:30-7:00 for our beginning of the year kickoff event.  We will have a special demonstration by our cheerleaders and our softball and football teams will be introduced.  Our teachers will have information and resources about the content they are teaching this year.  As a bonus, the homeroom with the most attendance will receive a reward.

The Pender Mobile Dental Clinic is now at CFMS.  The clinic provides routine and basic dental treatment to all interested students, parents and staff.  If you would like to take advantage of the dental services they provide, parents and staff can call the mobile number for an appointment and students can ask his/her teacher for a form.  A parent must complete the form and have your child return it to the school nurse.  Please be aware they make every effort to treat students during elective classes so they are not missing out on core class instruction.  If you have questions, please call 910-470-3250 or 910-279-3204.  The Mobile Clinic will be here until September 23rd, so please get your forms in as soon as possible.

Here Comes the Bus allows you to view the real-time location of your child’s school bus on your smartphone, tablet or computer. With it, you will have the information you need to send your children to the bus stop at just the right time, helping to protect them from inclement weather and other roadside dangers. What’s more, you’ll have peace of mind knowing your children haven’t missed the bus. The links for more information are below.
