Following the last game of the regular season against Topsail Middle School, the Cape Fear Middle girls' basketball team are 3rd in the district with a 6-4 season. They will be playing in the semi-finals on Monday, February 28th at 4:00 at Surf City Middle School!
Coach Manson and Coach Reece had the following to say about the team:
"The girls basketball team had a very successful year. In fact, this was their best year in five years. Coach Joy Manson did a good job of stacking her team with players from all three grade levels, which will hopefully lead to more successful seasons to come. The girls learned a lot and some have even stated interest in playing at the next level. They were not led by leading scorers but instead they were led by leaders that bought into the new coach.
Tonight is their last home game of the regular season against a tough Topsail girls team and this game will decide whether the Grizzly girls finish the season in second or third place. Tonight is also the night where we will see our 8th graders take to their home floor one last time before moving on to high school. I am so proud of how well Lauren, Abigail, Riley, Sophie, and Jalyn have played this year and look forward to what the future holds for these ladies. Our team will greatly miss them as the season is coming to a close but we know they will continue their success on the next level. However, before they depart they have the opportunity to fight for a championship next week and end their 8th grade year with a bang and do something that hasn’t been done in awhile.
The Grizzly Girls are on the road to the playoffs!! Let’s go Grizzlies!!! Fight!! Fight!! Fight!!"
