Topsail, NC – In a spirited display of academic excellence and literary passion, students gathered at Topsail Middle School today for this year’s Middle School Battle of the Books competition. Organized by Pender County Schools, the event celebrated the power of reading and the dedication of young scholars across the district.
After a day of challenging questions, Topsail Middle School claimed victory with an impressive 134 total points. Surf City Middle School followed closely with 128 points, while Penderlea secured a respectable 104 points, rounding out a highly competitive field.
The competition was expertly moderated by Karei Swift, Senior Sales Consultant from Follett Content, whose precise oversight and fair judgment ensured that every round flowed smoothly and each participant had an equal opportunity to shine.
The event was hosted under the supportive leadership of Dr. Alan McNaughton, Principal at Topsail Middle School. His commitment, along with the assistance of his dedicated team, created an environment where students could truly excel and enjoy the challenge.
This year’s Battle of the Books not only highlighted the hard work and determination of the students but also underscored the strong community spirit among educators, coaches, and volunteers. The energy and enthusiasm witnessed today promise an even brighter future for literary exploration in our schools.
