CFMS 8th grade students worked hard this week preparing for high school registration which will take place in a few weeks. They learned about how middle school is different from high school, the opportunities they have in elective courses which connect to careers, and they did a draft plan of their high school courses in Major Clarity. Ask them to show you their plan!
Pender Early College High School (PECHS) will be hosting a Partnership Day on Thursday January 18, from 5 to 7 pm. This Partnership Day is an opportunity for our community to learn who we ARE (Awareness, Recruitment, and Engagement). PECHS accepts students from all over the county and those students are often seen volunteering at different events throughout the community. The Partnership Day provides an opportunity for community members to learn more about our program and also find ways we can further engage our students with the community. We hope to partner with more businesses and organizations as well as to recruit future students. This networking opportunity is open to the public, potential students and businesses. From 5 to 6 pm there will be networking with light refreshments followed by a presentation starting at 6 pm. Students, staff and alumni will be on site to answer questions. The address is 100 Industrial Dr., Burgaw. Please join us and learn who we ARE!
All 8th graders will visit HTHS on February 6th from 9:00-10:30 to learn about high school requirements, elective options, athletic opportunities and club choices. Also on Tuesday February 6th, HTHS will be hosting a parent and student night from 5:30-7:00. Students and parents can learn about elective options, graduation requirements and academic opportunities. Students can also register for elective classes during this time. If students do not register for electives during the parent night they will register at school at a later date.
Parents, if you are interested in serving on the district Community Media Advisory Committee (CMAC) please contact Mr. Simmons at CFMS.
