4/23 Weekly Update

Cape Fear  Middle School will host a Summer Learning Program as an additional educational program from June 15th to June 30th. Students will be taught by licensed, highly qualified teachers. The focus will be to close learning gaps, provide leadership opportunities and prepare students for the next school year.  Bus transportation, and cafeteria services will be offered.  We will be sending home information with our students regarding this opportunity.  

Our baseball and volleyball teams play at home Monday at 4 versus Surf City MS.  On Thursday, they play at Penderlea MS at 4pm.

Eighth grade students will take their end of year check-in on Tuesday, April 25th.  This is a reminder to please charge all chromebooks the night before. 

Eighth grade formal is Friday, April 28th.  

Our CFMS Transition Night will be May 4th from 5:30 to 7:00pm.  This is an opportunity for you to meet your child’s next grade level teachers, play EOG Bingo and enjoy some pizza and refreshments.  CFMS Transition Night Flier

CTE Summer Accelerator Camps

Pender County Schools will be offering  Career Accelerator Academies, this summer, for rising 6th - 12th grade students.   Depending on location, students will  have the opportunity to explore careers related to Health Science, Foods and Nutrition,  Marketing, Agriculture, STEM,  Robotics or Computer Science while also learning  technical & problem solving skills needed in today's job market.  The CTE Accelerator Academies will operate at 2 middle schools (Cape Fear Middle School and Topsail Middle School) and all 3 of our high school locations.

 07/24 - 07/27 (Rising 6th @ Middle School Locations), (Rising 7th - 8th @ High School Locations)

07/31 - 08/03 (Rising 9th -12th @ High School Locations) 

Academy hours are 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

UNCW along with Novant Health and UNC School of Medicine are offering a free 4 day, 3 night summer camp for rising 9th graders. The summer camp provides an opportunity for students to learn more about different healthcare careers and pathways to get there. The camp will have guest speakers from our university as well as UNC School of Medicine and fun activities throughout the day/night to keep students engaged. Students and guardians can go online to complete the application which includes a recommendation from a teacher/administrator. Applications are due on 4/21/2023. ****Immunization Clinic on the morning of Tuesday May 2nd starting at 7:45AM at CFM. This is for CFM 6th graders (rising 7th graders) for the required Tdap booster and Meningo immunizations. Permission forms will go out with report cards on March 21st and will be due by April 14th.****

Heide Trask is hosting this year's Sports Physicals for our surrounding schools on May 23rd from 4:00-6:00 PM.  Take advantage of this great opportunity to have your athlete's physical completed, free of charge.  Please have the Guardian portion of the NCHSAA health history form (pg 1 & 2) completed before arriving at school.
