This week, seventh grade students at Burgaw Middle discussed the importance of 8th grade as a transition to high school. They also learned about graduation requirements for core courses and did a DRAFT plan for courses through 10th grade. Each middle school will complete this activity with future dates scheduled through the end of April.
Students discussed teacher recommendations for courses, the importance of GPA and how it can put more options on your "menu", and that attendance is more than just being "present." We also discussed that planning involves looking at many options and that plans can be changed. Doing this activity in seventh grade will help students approach high school registration next year more informed and focused.
Career development plans are revised and expanded each year as students progress through middle and high school. Ask them to show you their plan!
