Burgaw Middle School is the first middle school to receive the Pender County Schools Staff Honor Roll Award for the 2023-2024 school year. The entire Burgaw Middle School coaching staff has achieved the Level 1 designation from the NFHS along with a National Middle School Coaching Credential Award. The goal of this award is, "To enhance the ability of the coach to better serve students, the school, the community, and the profession of coaching" (NFHS, 2023).
A commitment to professional development and personal growth is essential for providing our student-athletes with the best possible experience during their time in Pender County Schools. BMS' Coach Brown and his staff have displayed a dedication to professional development that is to be commended.
Here at Burgaw Middle School, we have a dedicated team that always looks for ways to best support our student athletes no matter what the extra load places on our leaders. Whether it be driving a bus, transporting other teams for the good of the group, checking grades for participation, or simply coaching, all of the coaches at BMS deserve this honor and recognition.
Awesome job, Coach Brown, Coach Reilly, Coach Ownbey, and Coach Jessica Brown! You are very much appreciated. Also, a special thank you to Ms. Adams for graciously driving for our softball team that we share with WPMS! We appreciate you as well.
Early next week, coaches will be awarded with a special plaque in honor of their hard work and dedication. Remember to celebrate your coaches for National Coaches Day on Friday, October 6th.
Keep bringin' the heat!
