About 250 Pender County Schools elementary students spent an exciting week with the National Inventor’s Hall of Fame, also known as Camp Invention. This special program let students dive into STEM activities through hands-on lessons and fun projects. The kids rotated through different modules, working together to solve problems and create amazing inventions. It was a week filled with learning, creativity, and unforgettable experiences.
In the “Be an Innovative All-Star Within a Game” module, students designed their own light-up game boards. They explored different sports balls, created their own, and even developed a brand with a logo. Their hard work paid off when they were inducted into the Game of Fame! The “Shine Bright with Let’s Glow” module had campers experimenting with light and glowing animals. They built Glow Boxes and learned about different forms of light, making their ideas shine bright.
The adventure continued with “Explore the Earth and Water with Operation: HydroDrop.” Here, students tackled global water challenges by customizing robotic labs-on-wheels and engineering solutions for a clearer future. In the “Build Big Ideas With Prototyping Studio” module, children became game show contestants, turning everyday materials into amazing inventions inspired by great innovators. Pender County is proud to have partnered in providing this fantastic week-long opportunity, helping our students explore, invent, and shine!
