BURGAW, NC - Pender County Schools will be well represented at an upcoming national competition.
Students from West Pender Middle School and Penderlea School have qualified for the National Beta Club Convention which will be held in Louisville, KY in June.
The WPMS robotics team placed 3rd out of 40 teams, and Maddie Welborn placed 3rd in hand-drawn anime at the Beta Conference in Greensboro, NC.
"This team's success has much to do with its amazing leaders." said Principal Lauren Garza. "We have to thank the Pender High School Beta Leads for their mentorship and support."
Penderlea School claimed first place in Apparel Design and fourth overall in two-dimensional design. Eden Gurganus finished fifth overall in Onsite Art Painting.
The qualifiers will next head to the national competition which will take place in Louisville, KY in June 2023.
