(Burgaw, NC) - Thursday (April 7, 2022) morning members of the Pender County Sheriff’s Office and Pender County Emergency Management responded to a bomb threat involving Pender High School.
Due to the inclement weather, just after 9:00 a.m. Pender High School students were bussed to Malpass Corner Elementary School while deputies conducted a thorough search of Pender High School.
After a thorough search by the Pender County Sheriff’s Office and Pender County Emergency Management at approximately 11:30 a.m. Pender High School was declared safe. At that time students who were bussed to Malpass Corner Elementary School were bussed back to Pender High School.
“Pender County Schools would like to thank the Pender County Sheriff’s Office and Pender County Emergency Management for their professionalism and quick response.” said Pender County Schools Superintendent Dr. Steven Hill. “We’d also like to thank our families, students, and the school staff for their patience and understanding.”
If they choose, parents may pick up their children at Pender High School although students are not being officially dismissed from school.
