NEW ORLEANS, LA - Pender County Schools' Beginning Teacher Coach, Chase Parker-Morgan, recently had the opportunity to present at the National Association for School-University Partnerships (NASUP) Conference in New Orleans. The event, held from March 5-8, focused on how universities and school districts collaborate to support teachers and strengthen communities.

Chase presented "Meeting the Needs of New Teachers: A Multi-Layered Approach to Support and Retain Beginning Teachers" to education leaders from over 15 states. His presentation highlighted the work of the PCS Beginning Teacher Coaching Team (Lisa Godwin, Lyndsay Paquette, and Chase) alongside UNCW partner Jenn Hatch Knight. A key takeaway from their success: "Lead your work through a person-first model, and the data will follow."

A major highlight of the presentation was PCS’s significant increase in beginning teacher retention since implementing this enhanced support model. Sharing this success on a national stage reinforces PCS’s commitment to developing and retaining quality educators for our students.

Congratulations to Chase and the entire Beginning Teacher Coaching Team for their impactful work!
