SCHOOL NAMING FORM
SCHOOL DESIGN POWERPOINT PRESENTATION

Pender County Schools is excited to announce the opening of a new elementary and middle school in Hampstead, and we need your help in naming our schools! This is a unique opportunity for our community to shape the identity of a school that will serve students for generations to come.

How We Name Schools

In accordance with Board Policy Code 9300: Naming Facilities, school names are typically based on geographic locations or other site-specific identifiers such as roads, streets, subdivisions, or communities. This ensures that names reflect and honor the local area.

How to Participate

Please take a moment to complete our school naming form by February 2, 2025. The form allows you to:

  • Select from a list of pre-suggested names, or

  • Submit your own ideas under the "Other" option.

  • Share how the proposed names align with the district's naming policy.

Please note that the current Topsail Middle School will later become a freshman academy, which is why 'Topsail Elementary / Topsail Middle' is an option on the form. All suggestions will be reviewed and presented to the Pender County Schools Board of Education for final consideration.

What Makes a Great School Name?

A great school name should:

  • Reflect the heritage, geography, or community of the Hampstead area.

  • Align with the guidelines set forth in Board Policy Code 9300.

  • Be meaningful and memorable for students, families, and staff.

Your voice matters in shaping the future of our schools. Let’s come together to create something that truly represents our Hampstead community and inspires pride for years to come.
