Pender County Schools is proud to announce the Pender County Future Leaders Internship Program, a paid summer internship designed to empower local youth by providing valuable, hands-on experience in various professional fields of local government. This exciting program aims to cultivate leadership qualities, enhance career readiness, and inspire civic engagement by connecting students with mentors and community initiatives throughout Pender County.
Through mentorship, skill development, and real-world experience, participants will gain a deeper understanding of local government operations while building critical skills for their future educational and career pursuits. The program encourages students to make meaningful contributions to their community, fostering a sense of pride and responsibility in Pender County's future.
Program Details
Duration: 9 weeks
Dates: June 9, 2025, through August 6, 2025
Location: Various local government departments within Pender County
Compensation: Paid Internship
Eligibility Requirements
To apply for the program, students must meet the following criteria:
Be a rising junior or senior in Pender County Schools
Hold a valid North Carolina driver’s license
Have a minimum 2.5 GPA
Complete the application packet, including:
A written essay
Three references (two teachers, one general reference)
A parental consent form
A liability waiver form
Selected applicants will be required to pass a background check and drug screening prior to beginning the program.
