PENDER COUNTY, N.C. — Tom Reeves was sworn in as the newest member of the Pender County Board of Education at the board’s meeting on Monday, December 10, 2024. The ceremony was led by Judge Kent Harrell.
Reeves, elected to represent District 5 in the November election, will serve a four-year term running from 2024 to 2028. He fills the seat previously held by Phil Cordeiro.
A long-time business owner, Reeves has co-owned Hampstead Ace Hardware for 23 years and Calabash Ace Hardware for 16 years. Before entering retail, he spent 17 years in the Heating and Air industry, with the last 12 as a business owner. He is a licensed professional in North Carolina.
Beyond his business ventures, Reeves has been an active member of the Pender County community. He serves on the Advisory Board of the Southeastern Boys and Girls Club and is involved with the Pender County Republican Party. Reeves is also a past member of the Cape Fear Optimist Club, where he held various leadership roles, including coach and commissioner.
“I’m honored to serve the students, teachers, and administrators of Pender County,” Reeves said after his swearing-in. “I look forward to using my experience to create a positive environment that empowers our students to reach their full potential and supports our educators in their important work.”
Reeves, who has lived in Pender County for 25 years, is married with two children and five grandchildren.
