HAMPSTEAD, NC – Four marching band students from Topsail High School will take part in the 98th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, joining thousands of performers in one of the nation’s most iconic holiday events.

Samuel Casamalhuapa (tenor saxophone), Natalie Corbett (flute), Bryce Hughes (cymbals), and Mai Nguyen (flute) were selected to participate in the parade, which will be held on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2024. These talented students will join other young performers from across the country for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase their skills on the world stage.

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, which has become a beloved tradition for millions, will feature extravagant floats, live musical performances, and marching bands, all broadcast to a nationwide audience.

“We are extremely proud of Samuel, Natalie, Bryce, and Mai for representing Topsail High School and Pender County Schools in this incredible national event,” said Band Director Jake Wentzek. “Their hard work and dedication have earned them this amazing opportunity, and we can’t wait to see them shine in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.”

The parade, which will be broadcast live on NBC, has been a Thanksgiving Day tradition since 1924, drawing millions of viewers from around the world.
