BURGAW, N.C. - Pender County Schools announced today a one-time signing bonus for hard-to-fill teaching positions in Exceptional Children (EC), Math, and Science.
The district will offer a $5,000 bonus to qualified candidates who accept full-time positions in these areas. The initiative aims to attract top talent in critical subject areas.
Newly hired teachers who started this summer in EC, Math, or Science positions for the upcoming school year will receive retroactive bonuses. All eligible candidates will receive the bonus in their first paycheck after being hired.
"We're committed to providing our students with the best possible education, and that starts with having a fully staffed team of exceptional teachers," said Superintendent Dr. Brad Breedlove.
The signing bonus program is funded through remaining ESSER (Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief) funds. Due to limited resources, the offer will end on September 1, 2024. This deadline ensures all bonuses can be paid by the end of September for teachers receiving their first paycheck that month.
Interested candidates are encouraged to apply promptly through the link provided at the top of the article.
