BURGAW, N.C. — Pender County Schools welcomes Kendy Walker as the new Director of Exceptional Children Programs, effective July 1, 2024. With over 14 years of invaluable experience in education, a significant portion of which is dedicated to special education, Walker brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her new role.
Walker holds a Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, and Psychology, underscoring her deep understanding of tailored education for every child, especially those facing learning and/or behavioral challenges.

Her journey into special education is deeply personal, rooted in her experience as a parent of a son diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, and Anxiety Disorder 23 years ago. Together, they navigated educational pathways, believing fervently in the unique potential of every student, regardless of their challenges.

She eagerly anticipates collaborating with families to navigate their children’s educational paths, ensuring each student can reach their fullest potential.
