NICOLE STRONG

ROCKY POINT, NC — Nicole Strong, a dedicated 7th Grade Mathematics teacher at Cape Fear Middle (CFM), has been recognized as the March Site Coordinator of the Month for her exceptional leadership and commitment to mentoring within the Pender County school district.

In addition to her role as a classroom teacher, Strong serves as a mentor and the Beginning Teacher (BT) Site Coordinator for both Cape Fear Middle and Pender Innovative Learning Academy (PILA). Her impact has been profound, leading informative and effective monthly meetings for BTs on crucial topics such as Time Management, Behavior Management, Sub Plans, and effective Lesson planning.

Strong's dedication to her role as a coordinator stems from her inherent qualities of friendliness and organization. She believes in fostering a supportive environment for new teachers, recognizing the diversity within the BT community and the importance of providing guidance tailored to individual needs.

Reflecting on her motivation to give back to BTs, Strong recalls her own positive experience as a beginning teacher prior to joining Pender County Schools. Witnessing the challenges faced by new teachers in Pender County, she felt compelled to ensure that they receive the support and guidance necessary for a successful start to their careers.

When asked about the qualities of a good coordinator/mentor, Strong emphasizes the importance of being open, friendly, organized, and proactive in seeking opportunities for professional growth. She believes in continuously learning and adapting techniques to better support her colleagues.

Originally from Michigan, Strong is a certified 6-12 math teacher with 10 years of teaching experience. Her tenure includes six years at Cape Fear Middle, where she has made a significant impact on both students and fellow educators. In her personal life, Strong is happily married and eagerly anticipating the arrival of her first child, a boy, in May.
