SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
Pender Education Partnership Scholarship
Pender County High Schools - $1,000 or $500
One of the Pender Education Partnership’s goals is to provide financial support for Pender County Schools’ graduates to further their education, whether that is through a certificate program, a community college or four-year institution of higher education.
One $1,000 and one $500 scholarship will be awarded to a student at each of the district’s high schools – Heide Trask High School, Pender Early College High School, Pender High School, Pender Innovative Learning Academy and Topsail High School.

Samuel Henry Bell Scholarship
Students who attended Malpass Corner Elementary School are eligible to apply for this scholarship. The value of the scholarship is approximately $750 per year and is applied for on an annual basis. Applicants must have attended Malpass Corner Elementary School. Consideration will be given to students who demonstrate financial need, scholastic attainment, qualities of leadership and exemplary conduct.

Jones-Trawick Scholarship
Pender County Students - $20,000
In 1969, Jerome Calvin Jones graduated from Burgaw High School; which had been recently integrated. He went on to attend and earn a bachelor’s degree from East Carolina University. This scholarship honors his character and the dignity with which he handled being integrated from an all-black school to a predominantly white school.
Applicants must be a graduating senior of minority descent (ethnicity, race, and/or LGBTQ) and currently enrolled at one of the five Pender County Public High Schools

Kitty E. Croom Memorial Scholarship
Pender High School Students - $2500 per year
For over ten years Kitty E. Croom was employed at Pender High School. She was a strong advocate of education with a desire for children with financial need to be able to attend college. She also felt it was important that after college students return to southeastern North Carolina to enrich the area with what they had learned. The Kitty E. Croom Memorial Scholarship was established in the 2004-2005 school year to support the beliefs of Mrs. Croom.
The $2500 per year scholarship award is renewable contingent upon the student remaining in good standing with the institution of higher learning and maintaining a 2.5 grade point average.
Only Pender High School students may apply for this scholarship. The application is available in the school guidance office and on line by January 15.

Advocates for African Americans Carolinas Scholarship
Application Deadline: 3/4/2024
Amount: $2,000
Applicants of the Advocates for African Americans Carolinas Scholarship must be a graduating senior at a North or South Carolina high school and must attend a four-year college or university located in North or South Carolina. Applicants must plan to major in engineering, computer science, the sciences, accounting, finance or business administration. Applicants must have a 3.5 GPA and be an American citizen and a member of a race/ethnic category typically considered "people of color."

CBC Spouses Education Scholarship

For more than three decades the CBCF in partnership with CBC Spouses has awarded scholarships to talented and deserving students. Each year, we award more than 300 scholarships to students that demonstrate leadership ability through exemplary community service and academic talent. Our scholarship programs support current or upcoming college students across a variety of disciplines. African American and Black graduating high school seniors; scholars pursuing undergraduate, graduate or doctoral degrees in a variety of fields.

Dixie Youth Baseball Scholarship

From the very beginning, the leaders of Dixie Youth Baseball knew they wanted to develop a college scholarship program that would help former players obtain a college education. In order to be eligible, the applicant must be a senior in high school and have at one time played in a Dixie Youth Baseball league. There is no relationship between the award of a scholarship and athletic ability. Be aware the NCAA rules may prohibit acceptance of this scholarship if a student will be participating in a collegiate athletic program.

Lettie Pate Whitehead Scholarship Program

The Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation's scholarship program awards annual grants for the education of deserving female students with financial need at more than 200 accredited educational institutions in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. In accordance with the will that established the Foundation, grantee institutions use Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation grants to award need-based scholarships to Christian women who live in one of the specified states.

NACME Scholars (Block Grant) Program

NACME is the largest provider of college scholarships for underrepresented minorities pursuing degrees at schools of engineering. NACME Scholarships make a significant impact on the lives of deserving students who ultimately become valued participants in the engineering and computer science workforce. NACME is responsible for over $5 million in scholarships awarded annually to underrepresented minority (URM) students. NACME supports approximately 1,000 underrepresented minority engineering and computer students annually.

NCAE Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship

The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Scholarship was established in 1992 by the North Carolina Association of Educators Minority Affairs Commission under the auspices of the Human and Civil Rights Commission. It continues in partnership with the North Carolina Foundation for Public School Children. Scholarship awards are based on the amount of money received annually through donations and the Martin Luther King Jr events. Applicants must be North Carolina residents enrolled in a public high school in their senior year. Criteria for selection include character, community involvement, and scholastic achievement (minimum 2.5 GPA).

NIADA Foundation Regional Scholarships

The National Association of Independent Automobile Dealers provides several scholarship opportunities for exceptional high school seniors interested in pursuing a career in the automotive industry. Encouraging and supporting education opportunities for future industry leaders is integral to our vision of a robust, ethical and professional used vehicle market. NIADA currently offers 5 different scholarships. Applicants must be classified as a high school senior during the school year they apply for the scholarship and legally reside in one of the 4 regions listed on the information/application form on our website. Applicants must have maintained an outstanding academic achievement record as reflected by an official high school transcript and demonstrate an aptitude for college work. Must have a desire to work in the Automotive Industry.

North Carolina Student Incentive Grant

The Student Incentive Grant program is offered by the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority through College Foundation Inc., to provide financial assistance to needy North Carolina resident students attending eligible colleges and universities located within the state of North Carolina. Grants and Scholarships are awarded based on information you provide on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You must fill out the FAFSA to be eligible for this grant.

Southern Automotive Women's Forum Scholarship

The SAWF Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to women enrolled or enrolling in a STEM field at an accredited two-year technical program, four-year undergraduate program, or a graduate program who have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA, with a preference for those interested in the automobile and mobility industry. Applicants must be female high school seniors or graduates enrolling or enrolled in a STEM field at an accredited two-year technical program, four-year undergraduate program, or graduate program.

U.S. Army Loan Repayment Program

Amount: $20,000
The Loan Repayment Program (LRP) is a special incentive that the Army offers to highly qualified applicants entering the Army. Under the LRP, the Army will repay part of a Soldier's qualifying student loans. Only specified Military Occupational Specialties (MOSs) qualify for the LRP. The Army will repay 15 percent of the outstanding principal balance, less taxes of the Soldier's student loans annually or $1,500, whichever is greater, after each year of service (up to $20,000, less taxes).

Edna R. Kellett Memorial Scholarship
Topsail High School Students - $1500 per year
The Edna R. Kellett Memorial Scholarship was established in 2005. While little is known about Mrs. Kellett, her generosity is deeply appreciated. The scholarship is renewable contingent upon the student remaining in good standing with the institution of higher learning and maintaining a 2.5 grade point average.
Only Topsail High School students may apply for this award.
Applications are available in the school guidance office and online each year by January 15.

Disabled American Veterans of Chapter 11 Scholarship
$500 Scholarship
The Disabled American Veterans of Chapter 11, Wilmington, North Carolina announces its annual Americanism Essay Scholarship Program. Two scholarships in the amount of $500.00 each will be awarded to the two best entries as determined by a panel of judges from the Americanism Committee. To download the application.

Aramark Scholarship Program
Pender County High Schools - $1,000
The Aramark Scholarship Program awards eleven $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors who plan to attend an accredited university, college, community college or two-year vocational/technical school. Students from Heide Trask High, Pender High, Pender Early College and Topsail High are eligible to apply.
