Pender County Schools will establish with students and stakeholders meaningful pathways from Classrooms to Careers. We have high expectations for all students that include preparation for postsecondary success which aligns with the student's individual goals.  Individual goals may include pathways for on-the-job training,  industry standard certificate programs, military training, apprenticeship programs, application to two-year community or technical colleges, four-year colleges or universities.

Career and College Promise courses (CCP)-CCP courses are offered by Cape Fear Community College to high school juniors and seniors.  These courses provide an opportunity to earn college credits toward a two or four-year degree while in high school!

Students need 28 credits to graduate with a high school diploma. A total of 28 credits are completed with high school courses and dual enrollment college courses.

Students also must take all end-of-course (EOC) tests and CTE tests required by the State Board of Education.  The EOC and CTE test results will count as 20 percent of a student’s final grade in each high school course for which an EOC test is available. 


The College and Career Ready Graduate (CCRG) program provides high school students with the opportunity to make the transition from high school to post-secondary learning at the community college smoother and easier. Students will be able to satisfy English and Math requirements for college while still in high school at no cost to the student or family.  

This program provides instruction in foundational skills for mathematics and English that are critical for success in college courses. With the opportunity to meet this requirement in high school, students can be more prepared to be successful in community college courses.

Courses in grades 9-13 will use the formative/summative 70/30 weighted scale, with no nine-week grade lower than a 50.
