School History
The history of Topsail Annandale Elementary School is rich and varied. Initially opening its doors in 1956 as Annandale Elementary School, it served African American students from the Hampstead community. In the late 1960s, it was renamed Topsail Primary School and began welcoming all children in grades K-2. By 1990, the school expanded to become Topsail Elementary, serving children in grades K-5. With the addition of North and South Topsail Elementary Schools, TES transitioned to a middle school for a few years. In 2009, Topsail Elementary reopened as an elementary school, and in 2022, it was renamed Topsail Annandale Elementary. Throughout its journey, the school has enjoyed strong support from its families and the community. Today, we are proud to be the home of approximately 600 K-4 ‘Soaring Ospreys,’ a school committed to excellence and service.
